Collagraph is a deceptively simple printing process that allows incredibly sophisticated images to be created. The process begins by making a textured plate from a thin mountboard base where a variety of materials are applied to create an intricately textured printing plate. The resulting plate can printed intaglio, relief or both and can be combined with other techniques.
As part of this course you will get the opportunity to experiment with carborundum grits to create texture and tone on the printing plate. Participants will learn a range of techniques for making collagraph and/or carborundum plates as well as a variety of ways of printing using both intaglio and relief processes.
"Playful and creative but underpinned by learning good techniques."
