Wood engraving was made famous by the North East’s very own Thomas Bewick and the pro-cess continues today. This two day course has been developed by wood engraver Chris Daunt for beginners and anyone who has done wood engraving before. It will focus on creating a Christ-mas card design which you’ll then engrave into a hard wood block and print a small edition of hand engraved Christmas cards.

What you will learn

You will need to come with some images, printed out or drawn to the correct size, to use as a start-ing point for your Christmas card design. Chris will take you through planning the image, how to transfer the image to the block, cutting and printing. The block size will be approx. 10cm x 7cm

Please note, lettering should not be included in your design due to time constraints of the course.
