Anja has a fascination of the different atmospheres that light creates in both our rural and urban environments. Her compositions aim to combine different moods of light, with contrasting space and surface qualities. She enjoys working with a variety of etching techniques, including aquatint, ‘soft’ ground, ‘white’ ground and burnishing, which result in subtle tonal differences within her imagery.

Anja studied Human Anatomy at Edinburgh University before going on to study art at Falmouth College of Art. Her work has been exhibited internationally and she now works from her own studio in Fowlers Yard in the historic city of Durham.
