Furoshiki wrapping is the ancient Japanese practice of binding gifts and other objects in fabric and has become popular in Western society in recent years partly through increasing environmental concerns and a desire to reduce disposable wrapping paper.

This cotton wrap measures 48cm x 48cm. Utamaro was a well-known ukiyo-e artist especially his pictures of female beauties or “Bijinga” He depicts three celebrity beauties in the Edo-Kansei era. The three depicted are Tomino-Toyohina, Naniwa Kita and Takashima Hisa.
