The Pigment Project - Found and Ground
Tuesday 1 September, 2026
The Pigment Project explores the connections between colour, craft, place and the environment.
Funded by The Radcliffe Trust, the project brings together printmakers and pigment-makers to investigate how pigments are made and how natural, locally sourced materials can be used in printmaking.
Through visits, talks, demonstrations and hands-on making, we’ll explore the possibilities of pigment-making in the North East, discover contemporary approaches, and investigate the natural sources of colour on our doorstep.
The project will support us to develop new skills, share knowledge and explore more environmentally responsible approaches to making pigments for print.
