Print Space Official Opening

Officially opened on 21 May 2026, Print Space will support Northern Print’s growing learning and community programme, creating more opportunities for artists, adults, schools, children and young people, families, and community groups to explore printmaking.
The new space marks an exciting chapter for Northern Print, which has been supporting artists and opening up access to printmaking in the North East for 30 years.
To celebrate the launch, Northern Print commissioned award-winning illustrator and printmaker Sara Ogilvie to create a spectacular five-metre-long linocut print.
The panoramic illustration tells the story of Northern Print’s journey, from its roots in North Tyneside to its move to Ouseburn Valley 20 years ago, and now to the opening of Print Space.
The large-scale print was completed by hand with the help of community groups, visitors to The Late Shows, and Northern Print staff and volunteers, making it a collective celebration of printmaking and the people who have shaped Northern Print’s story.
The official opening brought together supporters, artists, volunteers, and community partners. Speakers included Jo Curry MBE, DL, representing the Sir James Knott Trust, and Northern Print Chair Patrick Chapman MBE.
