The exhibition formed one element of a pioneering project organised by ISIS Arts and Northern Print Studio exploring the idea of what it means to be English.
Visual artist Farhad Ahrarnia worked with pupils from four towns in Tweedside, Wearside, Tyneside and Teesside to explore the hidden histories of the North Eastern region and examine the rich diversity that lies within families from the area.
By examining how other cultural traditions have been absorbed into, and now form part of, North East culture, Ahrarnia has produced a series of new works celebrating the significant contribution that immigration throughout the centuries has made to British society.

"HOME is a major project that examines all of our origins. Farhad Ahrarnia has successfully immersed himself in the shifting definitions of what 'home' really means and the end result is a truly unique exhibition." - Anna Wilkinson
