Visiting Northern Print on the day of your workshop
Getting to Northern Print
There is information about travelling to Northern Print on our website. There are two accessible parking spaces at Northern Print for blue badge holders. Please note for all other drivers parking at the studio is very limited, there is however parking around Ouseburn which can be paid for using cash or app (check this!)
We have bike racks at the rear of our building. Information about public transport and other ways of getting around Newcastle can be found here.
We can sometimes arrange parking on Saturdays and evenings. Please contact us if you would like to check availability.
On arrival
On arrival, please enter by the main entrance on Coquet Street and sign in at the gallery desk. You will be welcomed in the gallery and taken to you wherever your class is taking place. You will be able to use the toilets on arrival – these are accessible.
Please arrive on time for your course, otherwise the tutor may have to start without you. Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes early.
Access needs and allergies
If you have any access needs or allergies, please make us aware of this before attending so that reasonable adjustments can be made where required. Tutors are keen to support all access needs including physical disabilities, accommodating support workers and carers, memory-problems or neurodivergence. We will treat this information with respect in line with our privacy policy (GDPR). If you would like more information about this and to discuss any specific needs before attending, please contact Northern Print.
Health and Safety
At the beginning of each class, you will be given information about housekeeping and health and safety. All participants must abide by health and safety policy guidance given. Any personal protective equipment required will be provided but we suggest bringing an apron or overall and/or wear clothing that you don’t mind getting ink on. We also require sensible shoes that protect your feet e.g., not open toed sandals. Some print processes use equipment with moving parts and we therefore require long hair to be tied back.
Covid-19 information
Northern Print is committed to providing a safe working environment. Masks/face coverings are not compulsory, however anyone who would like to wear one during the workshop is welcome to do so. Windows will be open to ensure good ventilation so please bring an extra layer of clothing. There will be hand sanitiser and hand washing facilities available for the duration of the workshop and all surfaces and equipment will be sanitised before and at the end of the workshop.
During your class
We aim to ensure our classes are a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone. All class and course participants are expected to contribute to a positive learning environment and be respectful of other learners needs.
If you have any concerns, please speak to your tutor during your course who can help to address these on the day. Please note some of our tutors are freelance artists rather than members of Northern Print staff so your concern may have to be passed on to a member of the Northern Print staff team if you tutor is unable to resolve the issue.
Where your conduct is unacceptable (in Northern Print’s reasonable opinion), we reserve the right to request that you leave the course or class. No refund of fees will be made.
We sometimes take photographs of classes that may be used by Northern Print for documentation and publicity purposes. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know. We know that people often want to document and share their photographs - please check with your tutor in advance if you would like to take photographs during the class.
By booking a class or course you are agreeing to abide by any health and safety guidance given during the course.
Northern Print will not be responsible for loss or damage to your personal property whilst attending a class or course.
Rest breaks and refreshments
During full day classes there will be a lunch break for approximately 1 hour at a time to suit the class. You can bring a packed lunch and are able to access our kitchen including fridge, kettle and microwave. There are also several local cafes and take away food providers close to Northern Print though please note that the lunch break is limited to approximately 1 hour.
You are of course welcome to take a break whenever you need to.
Cancellations, transfers and refunds
It is your responsibility to check the booking confirmation issued to you and that this is for your selected class or course and the correct date. You are entirely responsible for entering your details correctly on the online booking form.
If booking a class or course for a third party, you must provide their name and contact details and have permission to do so. You remain liable for the booking and would be responsible for any cancellation. If you have purchased the course as a gift and want to keep it as a surprise, please let us know so we do not contact the recipient in advance.
If you are unable to attend a class or course, you may cancel your booking with 7 days’ notice by email to enquiry@northernprint.org.uk or telephoning 0191 261 7000. Cancellations with 7 days’ notice are eligible for a full refund less £2.50 booking charge per person / per course.
Any cancellation for any reason within 7 days of the class or course will not be eligible for any refund.
However, you may transfer your place to a friend or family member so long as they meet the criteria to take part in the course (e.g., if we state experience is necessary you must transfer the place to a person with the skills to take part). If transferring your place to another person you must notify Northern Print giving the name and contact details of the person attending. You remain liable for the booking and would be responsible for any cancellation.
If Northern Print has to cancel a class or course due to insufficient numbers, we will give you at least 7 days’ notice and provide a full refund.
Where we have to cancel a class or course due to unforeseen circumstances we will aim to give as much notice as possible but cannot guarantee this. In this instance we will provide a full refund.
Please be aware that should we have to cancel a class or course we cannot cover any associated travel or accommodation costs.
All refunds will be made via the original payment method, normally within a 10-day period.
We reserve the right to amend aspects of a class or course from the advertised description. For example, we may provide an alternative tutor to the one advertised.
Prices are available for entire courses only – there are no reductions for attending only part of a course. However, if you are unable to attend a session as part of a course, we will make reasonable adjustments to ensure that you are able to make up any lost learning to allow you to complete the course.
Feedback
We undertake regular evaluation on all our activities, and you are welcome to feedback to Northern Pint about your experience. You will also receive a link to an online survey, this is linked to our funding from Arts Council England, and we encourage participants to complete. If you have a complaint about your experience, please contact enquiry@northernprint.org.uk.
