Join us from the comfort of your own home via Zoom for a live ‘in conversation’ event between Hilary Paynter and Leonie Bradley where there will be an opportunity to ask your own questions.
Hilary Paynter is one of the UK’s leading wood engravers, a Past President of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, a former Chair of the Society of Wood Engravers and an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. With a career spanning over 40 years Hilary’s work covers a vast range of subjects from landscapes, animal studies, heroic structures to visual commentaries on socio-economic matters. Hilary has illustrated numerous books, her engravings have been portrayed in a number of public art commissions and her work is in the collections of the V&A, the Ashmolean Museum, the FitzWilliam Museum, the Laing Art Gallery and Hereford and Durham City Museums amongst others.
Leonie Bradley is the Editor of Printmaking Today, an elected member of the Society of Wood Engravers and as a printmaker with an interest in multi-disciplinary practice her work is held in the collections of the V&A, the Ashmolean Museum, Manchester Metropolitan University, Central Academy of Fine Art in Bejing and the University of Bath.

Once you make a booking we will add you to our list of attendees and before the event we will send you a link to the private Zoom meeting which you can use to join us at 7pm on Thurs 22 Oct.
If you have never used Zoom before, please contact us on email@example.com a few days before the event and we can help you to get set up on your device. You will need a computer, phone or tablet and connection to the internet to join the meeting.

What can I buy?
Own Art loans are available in our gallery for the purchase of contemporary art and craft by living artists. That means you can choose more or less anything you want from paintings, prints, drawings and sculpture, to glassware, ceramics, jewellery and textiles.
How much can I borrow?
Own Art loans allow you to borrow from as little as £100 up to a maximum of £2,500 for the purchase of works of art by living artists.
How do I apply?
After you've found something in our gallery or online that you love, speak with a member of staff who can talk you through your options on 0191 2617000. You are able to pay a deposit with Own Art to lower your monthly costs although this is not necessary and the loan can cover framing if you wish. The best option is to visit the gallery if you would like to proceed with an Own Art application where a member of our team will take you through the loan application process. You will need to bring proof of ID, address and signature - a driving licence is ideal or a utility bill and credit or debit card. The application process usually takes 10-15 mins following which you'll get an instant decision so you can take the work home on the same day.
