UKAEA Kult Ritual
Golden Cabinet was a wildly experimental and acclaimed music night that took place at The Kirkgate Centre in Shipley, West Yorkshire. Printmaker Nick Loaring of The Print Project produced original letterpress posters for the event which have become collectors items in their own right.
Each of these prints is entirely different as each one is inked by hand, the monoprint 'void' at the top was created by scratching paint brushes and rubbing rags into a flat surface covered in ink, reducer and white spirit (that's the splatters).
The type at the bottom was hand-cut out of lino floor tiles. Nick lost the feeling in his index finger for a week after cutting it. (We are at the time of writing unsure as to whether it returned.)
Edition of 30.
Monoprint and linocut
