Connecting Print Studios
A series of virtual visits to printmaking studios around the world
By Newcastle University and Northern Print

Come and see behind the scenes at this internationally-acclaimed studio working with the very finest artists in southern Africa.

Situated in a farming area just outside of White River in Mpumalanga, South Africa this purpose-built studio provides the facilities lithographs, letterpress, mono printing and relief printing.

The studio was established in 1991 by Tamarind Master Printer Mark Attwood with a focus on hand printed lithographs that are printed by master printers in collaboration with artists. The Artists’ Press editions, publishes and sells original prints by artists from across southern Africa and brings their work to international audiences and print collectors.

The event will last approximately one hour and will be an informal tour and talk. There will be time for Q&As at the end of the visit.

This event is organised by Northern Print and hosted by the Institute for Creative Arts Practice as part of: 'Connecting Young People with Print and with Print Studios across the World', which is a research & engagement collaboration managed in partnership between Northern Print, Newcastle University and Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM). These events coincide with the exhibition 'Print Goes Pop' at the Hatton Gallery; the latest in a series of Pop-Art themed exhibitions at the Hatton Gallery, which has strong links with the art movement of the 1950s and 60s.
